A COMMUNITY centre is set to close its doors for a much-needed makeover.
Beesley Green Community Centre, in Greenleach Lane, Roe Green, Worsley, is to close on Monday for 11 weeks.
Floors will be raised to one level and a new kitchen and meeting rooms are also to be built.
The centre, which dates back to the 1930s, will also be redecorated.
It caters for more than 20 clubs and classes, including line dancing, tap dancing, keep-fit and aerobics.
Last year, clubs were moved out temporarily as a new central heating system was installed.
Classes will again be switched to various locations in Swinton, Little Hulton and Walkden as the latest work is carried out.
As well as grants, Kerris Milligan, the centre's treasurer, said groups had raised more than £3,000 through collections and fundraising.
She said: "Groups have struggled to find suitable, alternative accommodation in the area as many halls are smaller, more expensive to hire and in many cases, do not have carpets.
"The work will make the whole centre a much better place with a much more modern feel to it."
For information on where clubs will be held during the refurbishment, contact the centre on 0161 790 6124 or 0161 9501711.
