A MAN was fighting for his life today following a road accident in Bolton town centre.
The 62-year-old pedestrian suffered serious head and internal injuries after he collided with a car as he crossed Bradford Street at its junction with Radcliffe Road, The Haulgh.
He was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital where police said he remained in a critical condition today.
The man has not been identified but is from The Haulgh.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene at around 7.30pm yesterday. The road was immediately sealed off.
Police said the car, a Hyundai Getz, was travelling towards the town centre when the collision occurred. The driver, a 23-year-old man from Kearsley, was not hurt.
Bradford Street was closed between Bury Road and Castle Street for two hours as accident investigators began their investigations.
Police today appealed for witnesses to contact the Road Policing Unit on 0161 856 5972.
A Blackrod teenager who suffered serious head and chest injuries after the car he was driving collided with a pedestrian crossing in Chorley New Road, Horwich was recovering today.
Police said the 19-year-old was stable in an intensive care unit of the Royal Bolton Hospital following the incident at 11.30pm on Thursday.
Firefighters spent an hour cutting him free from the wreckage of the car, a Peugeot 106.
