DWIGHT Pezzarossi could become the first Guatemalan player to play in the Premiership after joining Wanderers from Communicaciones for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent transfer.
The 24-year-old striker impressed Sam Allardyce during a recent trial and signed on Friday night, subject to international clearance.
Pezzarossi, who has also played in Spain, Chile and Argentina, does not require a work permit because he holds an Italian passport.
The powerful 6ft 2ins striker from Central America said: "I am simply happy to be here.
"It is a great step, to play here can only be a good thing. It's good for me to be playing in the Premiership and maybe also the Carling Cup Final.
"I hope I will get my chance and then we will see how things go from there."
Allardyce, aiming to sign at least two more players before Monday's 5pm deadline, was also linked with Celtic defender Stephen Crainey, but he has joined Southampton.
