I WOULD like to thank Hannah Stephenson and the Bolton Evening News for publicising Alzheimer's Awareness Week in the recent article.
I have a personal interest in this charity, as my mother has been badly affected by the disease over the last decade.
Alzheimer's also affects carers -- my family and I have been through years of stress and worry because of it.
We contacted the Alzheimer's Society on several occasions and found them to be extremely helpful.
In May of this year, we finally managed to place my mother in a suitable residential home here in Bolton where she is safe, happy and well looked after.
To help raise awareness of the disease and the charity, I am embarking on an official 95-mile walk of the West Highland Way, this August.
I am covering all my own costs, so every penny will go directly to the Society.
I would be very grateful for any sponsorship, however modest, which your readers may like to offer.
I have set up a website which allows people to make or pledge donations on line www.justgiving.com/martynsbigwalk
