RE: speeding traffic on the local roads
Firstly, I live in the Astley Bridge area and have done so for many years, so that, when I stated about the police doing speed checks, I know the area that Mrs Smith wrote about (Friday, July 2, Bolton Evening News).
Yes, I agree that something should be done about speeding on Belmont Road. But my point was that, on Moss Bank Way, we have Thornleigh College, Holy Infants School, and the junction of Hillview Road near Asda, which, with more children and pedestrians using this road, is a 40mph section, until the Astley Bridge Library door, then it's down to 30mph for approximately 50 yards to the lights.
I spend quite some time in the area, both in the day time and in the evening, and I see speeding vehicles all the time, including motor cyclists doing wheelies.
My main point was, that if Belmont Road near the Topshop is 30mph, then Moss Bank Way should also be 30mph.
Mrs Smith states that some motorists/motor cyclists are doing 70mph on Belmont Road. It's the same on Moss Bank Way, but with more children and pedestrians about.
Let's hope, for all our users of the roads and footpaths, the police can stop this bad driving.
