who smashed school windows
POLICE are still hunting the vandals who caused thousands of pounds worth of damage in a wrecking spree at Haslam Park Primary School, Deane last month.
Yobs smashed 28 windows and skylights, forcing pupils to be sent home for the day while the shattered glass was cleared away.
Headteacher Alison Howarth has appealed for witnesses to come forward through the Bolton Evening News, and a couple of pupils came forward with names of possible culprits which have been passed on to police.
But Mrs Howarth has called on residents who can may have any more information to come forward. She said: "Apart from pupils who have come forward with a couple of names, we are had very little information which could lead police to the culprits.
"We have replaced some of the windows but some of them will never be replaced, like the skylights for instance. We are going to have to permanently board them up. We will have to go down the road of installing shutters around the school, which hopefully will save us money in the long-term. But we don't want to go too far and turn the school into Fort Knox."
Mrs Howarth praised the local community, which has rallied around the school and been vigilant since the attack.
She said: "More people are ringing the police if they see anyone who should not be on school premises."
If anyone has information on the vandal attack they can contact the school on 01204 333 393, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
