DINESH Mongia signed off in style as Lancashire finally got a win under their belts with a five-wicket victory against Derbyshire in the Twenty20.
The Indian all-rounder has come to the end of his three-week loan spell with the Red Rose side, covering for the injured Carl Hooper.
And he made sure he left his mark on the team hitting 50 from 34 balls and taking 2-15 from his four overs.
Mongia said: "It's a shame to be going as I've really enjoyed my time here. The guys have been brilliant even though it hasn't been an easy time. I'm so pleased for them that we got this win and I think they'll go from strength to strength."
His knock and useful contributions from Mal Loye and Stuart Law saw Lancashire cruise to their target of 143 with 17 balls to spare.
The match finished in a fitting manner as the winning leg byes came from Dominic Cork's pad.
The home crowd gave the former Derbyshire skipper, in his first game against his old team, a vocal reception, and it will have given him considerable pleasure to inflict a defeat on them.
Lancashire's bowlers put in a good performance to restrict the Scorpion batsmen, despite 39 from Australian Jon Moss. Glen Chapple was back in the side after his injury and Sajid Mahmood also returned after his spell with the England one-day squad , although his four overs cost 38 runs.
Once again it was the spinners who slowed the scoring. Gary Keedy bowled another good spell, taking the key wicket of Jon Moss when he was stumped by Warren Hegg. Mongia then made his first impression on the game, but his two wickets were just a prelude to his match-winning innings.
