IN December, 1973, there was a trophy presentation at St Bede's primary school, Bolton.
The Duckham trophy was presented to the Bolton school with the best road safety record over the previous three months.
According to our story at the time, Bolton road safety officer James Walker kept a watch on the children as they went to and from the school.
Cllr David Vause, vice-chairman of the road safety committee, handed over the trophy during assembly. Head boy Christopher Holme, aged 10, and six-year-old Jayne Longworth received the shield on behalf of their classmates.
They are watched from the left in the picture by Junior School headmistress Jean Walker, road safety officer Mr Walker and Infant School head Moira O'Neill.
