SAM Allardyce is in the queue to sign Euro 2004 hero, Theo Zagorakis, according to the player's agent.

Wanderers face stiff competiton in the race for the Greece midfielder's signature but could have an ace up their sleeve in the shape of Stelios, who played alongside Zagorakis in the Greek's triumph in Portugal.

Spurs and Everton are also keen on the AEK Athens star, who was named player of the European Championships and is destined to leave Greece this summer.

But Zagorakis did not have the best of times in a 16-month spell with Leicester City and could snub the Premiership in favour of a move to either Italy, where Bologna have made their interest known, or Spain, where Atletico Madrid are moitoring his situation.

The 32-year-old, who has been capped 92 times by his country, could make a decision on his future as early as next week.

"We have many offers from different countries which is natural because he is the player of the Euro 2004," his agent Kimon Kokorogiannis said.

"The Trotters have been awaiting his answer for the last two weeks. Even from Qatar we have an offer, six million euros (£4m) for a two-year contract, along with many other offers from European clubs.

"Theo is looking for the best team and the best offer. He will make a very careful choice. He believes he can play well at all the teams."

Wanderers are running the rule over highly-rated 20-year-old Cameroon goalkeeper Carlos Kameni, who plays for Le Havre in France.
