Flat Green Bowls: BOLTON Flat Green Bowling Club are celebrating after a last minute victory over a hotly-tipped Cumbrian side in a national competition.
The 11-strong team travelled to Dalston to compete against the much-fancied Wigton Bowling Club in the National Top Club contest.
Despite the Wigton side numbering six international players among their ranks, the Bolton side kept their composure and managed to secure a win in the last game.
The outcome of the match remained in doubt until the end of the five-game fixture, with the score at 2-2 until the final deciding game.
Bolton Triples captain Bob Wood put the opposing captain under pressure through the last game, causing him to miss the target with his crucial final bowl, clinching the 3-2 victory for Bolton.
