FOOD at Camelot Theme Park is among the most unhealthy of any being served up at tourist attractions in the UK according to a consumer survey.

The theme park has come joint bottom of a league table by the Consumer Association about healthy eating options for visitors at tourist attractions.

Bosses at the Charnock Richard park have pledged to review the food products they offer in light of the Which? Magazine survey which inspected 20 attractions nationwide.

Camelot was given a 29 per cent score for its range of healthy options -- the joint lowest in the country along with Flamingo Land in North Yorkshire.

A spokesperson for Camelot said: "We take great pride in our offerings to the many thousands of visitors that come to the park each year.

"We offer a good selection of refreshments and meals that are ideally suited to our customer market.

"As part of our commitment to our customers we regularly survey the attitudes and expectations of our visitors, which includes the catering options.

"High levels of satisfaction with our food outlets were recorded at the end of last season.

"We frequently review the products on offer in our food outlets and respond to the requests of our guests.

"We also welcome our guests to bring picnics should they prefer an alternative to the outlets on site.

"As a result of this survey an immediate review of products on offer in our food outlets will be implemented."

Top of the list was Edinburgh Castle which gained a 100 per cent score for its healthy offerings.

Which? director of campaigns Nick Stace said: "The tourist industry should ensure that wherever you are it's just as easy to pick up a nutritious sandwich and some fruit as a hot dog and fries."
