SUPERB bowling from teenage spinner Grav Dhar helped Chorley secure one of the most comprehensive victories ever seen at Windsor Park when they dismissed Barrow for just 39.

It was a bizarre day's cricket on Sunday which made it two wins out of two in Chorley's group stage matches in the Thwaites Bitter League Cup.

Victory in their final match at Leyland will ensure they top the group. Having been put in to bat, Chorley's total of 158 looked vulnerable but in the event it proved to be easy enough.

Tom Smith was first to go after he foolishly attempted a single to gully only to be run out by a distance.

Wickets fell at fairly regular intervals with the biggest partnership coming for the fourth wicket when Nick Woods (32) and Stephen John (16) added 43. Nigel Heaton, coming in at number seven, top scored with 39 before he was the last man out, to leave Chorley supporters wondering at tea if 158 would be sufficient to secure victory.

Barrow's reply, though, was soon in tatters thanks to a superb spell of bowling from Chorley's teenage spinner Grav Dhar.

He bamboozled the visiting batsmen, clean bowling Williams before having Riley caught.

At the other end Stephen John also grabbed two quick wickets to leave Barrow reeling at 12/4. It got worse for Barrow when two more rapid strikes made it 17 for 6, with Dahr taking his third wicket for a final analysis of three wickets for just 13 runs in eight overs.

Tom Smith then blew away the tail taking three wickets for 14 as Barrow subsided to 39 all out, one of the lowest totals ever seen at Windsor Park.

No Barrow batsman reached double figures as Mr Extras with 9 was the top scorer in an innings containing just three boundaries.

Final score: Chorley 158 Barrow 39
