PETER Kay is making surprise appearances all across Bolton as he films for his latest Phoenix Nights spin-off comedy series.
The award winning comic and his camera crew have been filming in the town for the forthcoming Road to Nowhere show.
Regulars at the Victoria Inn, on Markland Hill, were entertained by a helping of humour from the stars of the show Max and Paddy, when the cast spent several hours shooting scenes outside homes next to the pub on Tuesday.
Then the crew were spotted filming at Entwistle railway station near Edgworth.
The quiet station was transformed by the film crew, with the name changed to Middlewood station.
They spent three hours on location filming scenes which featured the bungling Phoenix Nights door staff, played by Kay and his partner in crime Patrick McGuinness.
The scenes will show the two security guards pull up at the deserted station in a car and exclaim: "We're in the middle of nowhere!"
Kay was also planning to film at the UGC cinema on Watersmeeting Road, The Valley, in a scene where bungling doorman Max visits the cinema on a date.
And last week he was spotted in the Trafford Centre and at various locations in Bolton town centre.
