A CHILDREN'S author delighted children by regaling them with stories as he opened their new school library.
David Webb, a former headteacher in Bolton and Bury, who is now making a name for himself writing children's books, visited Christ Church Primary School in Harwood. He talked to the children about where he got his ideas from for his stories, how he goes about planning and writing them - and he also spent time actually telling stories to the youngsters.
The new school library has been funded by East Bolton Regeneration and through the Creative Partnership and headteacher Christine Lancashire said it is a valuable new resource.
She said: "We have completely redesigned, relocated and restocked the library with books. It is absolutely superb, it really is fantastic." The library has been computerised so it operates in a similar way to a public library.
The new library also adjoins a computer suite so youngsters have a wealth of research facilities at their fingertips.
Year three children have made individual sculptures to go into the library and a local artist has created a beautiful mural on one of the walls.
Mrs Lancashire said she hoped the new library would help to instill a love of reading in the children.
