BOLTON'S medieval market returns to the town this weekend.
And town hall bosses hope the event -- first held last year to mark the 750th anniversary of the granting of Bolton's market charter -- will become an annual attraction.
This year's market will be held in Churchgate on Saturday and Sunday, July 17 and 18, to coincide with the 1251 charter which granted permission for the town to hold a market in July every year. The medieval archway which proved to be a striking feature at last year's market, will also return.
Visitors will be able to enjoy themed market stalls, craft demonstrations, interactive workshops and strolling street theatre.
Bolton parish church will host displays by local history societies and community groups.
A fairground will also be provided in Churchgate.
