A CHORLEY school is helping to lead the way to a healthier lifestyle.
More than 500 schools in the county, including Chorley's Astley Park, have signed up to Lancashire's Healthy Schools Programme to develop the emotional and physical well-being of all pupils and staff.
Schools must prove they have reached standards in five themes, such as promoting the school ethos, teaching and learning, healthy eating, physical activity, drug education and sex relationships education.
The nine latest schools to achieve the status received plaques and certificates at a Healthy Schools conference hosted by the county council.
The conference, which was held in Chorley, attracted education and health professionals from all over Lancashire.
It included workshops dedicated to dance in schools, tackling emotional health and well-being, sexual health, the role of the school nurse and staff health.
