PHOTOGRAPHIC snapshots of local life will help shape the future of two Chorley villages.

Thirty residents in Heapey and Wheelton have taken more than 700 photos of things they like and dislike about their areas.

The pictures were displayed at a fete on Sunday to give other residents the chance to comment, with their views being used to help form the forthcoming parish plan.

Keith Molloy, of the Heapey and Wheelton Parish Plan group, said: "This is an exciting time for the residents.

"This is their opportunity to really shape the area in which they live and possibly change their community for the better. Different issues affect different people."

The stand was the focus of the Heapey and Wheelton Village Fete and will go on the road throughout the locality.

Visitors were asked to comment on issues including transport, housing and leisure.

Their observations will be used to improve the Parish Plan, which will then be put forward to help attract funding for local schemes and additional resources from Chorley Borough Council and Lancashire County Council.

The stand will also be at the Red Lion, Wheelton on July 10 from 2pm-6pm, the Golden Lion, Higher Wheelton on July 17, White Coppice on August 7 and Heapey Chase on August 14. For information contact www.heapeyandwheelton.org or call Keith Molloy on 01254 831578.
