In response to the letter from T Evans, Euxton (Citizen June 23). The residents of Astley Village are very proud of their environment and the facilities provided.
We have an excellent school, restaurant, community centre and shopping area. Our population is made up from people from different walks of life living in their choice of either rented or private accommodation in a true village setting.
For the visitor we provide ample free car parking that gives direct access to Astley Park, complete with pond, and the magnificent Astley Hall. The village pond at the corner of Buckshaw Hall Close, surrounded by well kept grassland and shrubs, presents a perfect picture postcard setting that is the hallmark of a true village.
Now it is true that many of our residents and even a few outside visitors enjoy the fishing in this oasis of tranquillity, but I do suspect that these people hold Water Board Licences and therefore meet the requirements of the law.
So please T Evans, if you must come to our village, do try to be complimentary rather than negative and do enjoy all that we have to offer.
Steve Clifford, Wymundsley, Astley Village
