Horwich residents will be pleased to hear that their homes at Arcon Village are now available. First time buyers need not apply (Bolton Evening News, Tuesday, July 6).
The great sale looks set to exceed all expectations - for those that did not expect a transparent pricing structure, that is.
I can imagine the village people, each whispering behind closed doors the inflated price they paid - pleased if it was less than their neighbour and embarrassed if it was more.
When Redrow moves on, I hope the occupants of the proposed 141 properties can come and go in safety, via the single entry and exit road.
Chorley Old Road has never been as fast or busy and neither has New Chapel Lane nor Claypool Road - both rat-runs to Middlebrook and the motorway.
Speaking of New Chapel Lane. I trust, before it lays its last "golden brick", that Redrow implements measures outlined in Section 106 of its agreement regarding pedestrian safety along this much-abused route. Maybe it will succeed where, before and since Middlebrook, Bolton Council has consistently failed.
A final thought. Perhaps, with the extra money raised through its tendering, Redrow should inform Gordon Brown of its "windfall" and be taxed appropriately.
