EGERTON folk went crazy for the latest attraction at the local park during their weekend fete.
Large crowds queued up to try their hand at the new crazy golf course, officially opened by Marian and Morris Young, who are leaving the area after many years following the sale of their Blackburn Road off-licence.
Despite the unsettled weather, hundreds of people turned out to the Victorian attractions during the two-day fete.
"Although it rained on the Saturday we still had a lot of people coming through with their umbrellas," said organising committee chairman Tony Muscat.
Rivalry between the local pubs meant the annual tug of war contest was keenly fought this year, with victory finally going to the strong men from The Flag.
And organisers from the Egerton and Eagley Heritage Society used the fete as an opportunity to gather more than 1,000 signatures opposing a scheme by a developer to move the Dunscar war memorial.
Work starts next month on planning next year's fete, with plans for a mock Victorian classroom as the centrepiece of the event.
