I WAS appalled this weekend, after returning from holiday, to find out that plans were afoot to relocate Dunscar War Memorial, so that a new development can take its place.

The War Memorial, when erected, was most central to Dunscar, Egerton and Eagley, and was, and still is, in an ideal position.

It has not to be shunted into some out-of-the-way spot. It has to stand erect and proud to the memory of the fallen, where it is now.

How can the Planning Department even consider allowing property to be built in its place?

It is obvious that money is the object of the application.
