A SHARP-eyed reader rang about the picture in Looking Back which showed dancers at the Bolton Palais de Danse around 1957.

He wondered why the people in the photograph were dancing when the band members did not appear to be playing.

Well, I cannot answer that one. All I can suggest is that the dancers were either holding each other waiting for the music to start, or maybe a record was playing.

It is also possible that the whole scene was staged for the benefit of the photographer.

Perhaps somebody on the photograph could get in touch to solve this minor mystery?
