A WOMAN who inspired the region to raise nearly £2 million for a scanner at the Christie Hospital will be honoured in an exhibition.
Pat Seed, who died of cancer in 1984, started the Pat Seed Appeal Fund in 1977 after finding out the area health authority could not afford the scanner, a building for it or the running costs.
It is said Mrs Seed helped bring the word cancer out into the open. She received the MBE and many other awards for her bravery and fund-raising.
To mark the anniversary of her death, Mrs Seed's memorabilia will be on display at St Thomas' Church, Garstang, where she is buried.
It will be held from Saturday July 31 for a week, from 9am to 4pm. There is also a book of remembrance in memory of Mrs Seed's husband Geoff, who was killed in the Abbeystead Pumping Station Disaster 10 weeks before his wife died.
