BOLTON over 45s interleague team turned the tables
on Bury to win the return match between the two sides at Elton Vale SC.
Bury scored a total of 70 in their first innings, with Sandra Rothwell 13, Jennie Holt 12, and Chris Yates 18 topping the scores.
Bolton captain June Duckworth opened their innings and replied 88. Kathleen Chapman was their highest scorer with 20, closely followed by Pamela Atherton 13, and Barbara Gillett 11.
When Bury went into bat for the second time they met a Bolton team determined to win, and an excellent all-round fielding performance restricted Bury to 49 runs.
Bolton went into the final innings needing a total of 32 to take the game and cruised home , 17 runs each credited to Sylvia Sutton and Ann Grundy.
In the Dixon Shield, Brierfield came back from a 48 run deficit at half time in their game against an in-form Dale XI, to win by seven runs. Charlotte Hamer 41, Sue Jolley 20 and Lisa Jolley 19 won the team a place in the semi final.
CRS met with Farnworth & District Vets in the fight for second place in Section B. Farnworth took the points with a great display of fielding, shutting out 11 CRS players with no-scores to win 109(1)-70.
Bradbury Ladies continue to dominate D Section after beating Redgate 252-207, but the mid-table team did not go down without a fight. Redgate were 77 runs adrift at half time but managed to score 129. Donna Karim 35, Susan Karim 29 and Rebecca Allen 18 the top scorers. That forced Bradbury to bat again, but with Mandy Jones 37 and Jayne Eccleston 35, the top placed team proved too strong.
Knights XI finally gained their first win of the season in E Section beating Hough Fold 177-148, with Debra Higson 27 and Annette Flavell 22.
Tonge Moor Ladies are joint top with Prices B in Section G, but lost two valuable points to third placed K2 Ladies, who won the match 150-129.
The Horwich Shield semi-finals are both to be played on Hulton Lane playing fields on Thursday, July 15, at 7pm. Hulton Lane Ladies meet Astra Ladies, and Esporta Ladies B take on Future XI.
The Junior Interleague team face Bury in their return match on Friday, July 16 at Elton Vale SC.
