THE argument that shifting historic Dunscar War Memorial to build homes would renovate the land there simply won't wash.

It may sound fine on a planning application, but the reality is all about hard cash. Obviously there is no sin in building luxury houses and flats, but why on this particular plot on Blackburn Road?

Desirable to developers it may be, but it is already occupied, by the war memorial, and has been for the past 83 years.

It is insulting to the memory of those who died, and a slur on the town's appreciation of such bravery to simply try to shift it somewhere else as if it had no meaning.
