BOLTON Cricket Club enjoyed a one run win to reach the semi-final of HC Smith Trophy.

In an exciting encounter Bolton notched up 168 for nine against Whalley Range, with Chris Grant top scorer on 54.

Whalley looked out of it at 51-5, but led by skipper P Davies, fought their way back in to the game. They needed 30 off the last three overs and 11 off the last and just fell short by one run. Grant took three wickets for an effective all-round contribution.
