BOLTON would benefit from a licensing scheme for street buskers, according to a new survey.
A study by Carling revealed 72 per cent of people in the town enjoyed hearing music in public places, with a further 69pc saying they had stopped to listen to street musicians.
The company, which operates a series of live music venues across the UK, says Bolton would benefit from a scheme similar to that currently operating on the London Underground, where licensed buskers have been brought in to cheer up commuters.
Its survey claims 93 per cent of people in Bolton find music helps them to relax and feel better.
