YOUNG arsonists who set fire to a Hindley Green primary school have been condemned by fire officers.
At Wigan and Leigh Youth Court, one boy aged 11 and two aged 12 were each given 12 month referral orders, and their parents ordered to pay £250 compensation each.
The boys had set fire to St John's Primary School in February, causing £200,000 worth of damage. Pupils had to be taught in temporary accommodation.
Alan Stoker, Greater Manchester Fire Service's area commander for fire safety, said they were aiming to reduce the impact of arson attacks in the community.
He said: "We will not hesitate to pursue any person we believe may have committed arson to the full extent of the law."
