BOLTON South-east MP Dr Brian Iddon wants retail staff to tell him about attacks and threats made by customers.
His plea came as he threw his weight behind a campaign by the shop workers' union Usdaw to highlight violence and abuse.
It follows a survey by the union which showed that average shop worker was likely to be verbally abused twice a week, attacked every 40 days, and threatened every two weeks.
He said: "I would urge any shop workers who are having difficulties with violence, threats or abuse to contact my office on 020 7219 2096."
