JACK Partridge is the new Lancashire Schoolboy champion after he fired in a two over par 72 over his home course of Bolton Golf Club, on Monday.
The 16-year-old pupil at Rivington and Blackrod High School ensured that a Bolton schoolboy retained the U18s trophy, following Mike Aspinall's success last season.
It was a tight finish, however, and Partridge, who finished third in the U15s event last year, only picked up the silver rose bowl after a card play-off with Rainford High School's James Robinson.
His next ambition is to do well at the English Schools Championship, which he has now qualified for next month, although he will be busy playing for the Bolton Golf Association juniors over the summer holidays.
He is also a member of the Whiting Bay Golf Club on the Isle of Arran where he has had tremendous success. He is the Whiting Bay champion after winning the Raymond Curtis salver and is also holder of the prestigious McNichol Cup, which is open to all members on the island.
Other Bolton results - Bolton School: Sam Longworth 83. Canon Slade: Matthew Jones 92, Chris Coleman 84, Christopher Coleman 90. St Joseph's: Daniel Hunt 78. Westhoughton: Liam Ball 89, David Tooth 92, Matthew Jenkinson 99, Shaun Edwards 90. Girls - Bolton School: Colleen Winstanley 95.
