LABOUR councillors were left red faced this week after delivering 6,000 election leaflets that inadvertently featured a four letter word.
The unrepeatable expletive appeared in the spring edition of the Labour Rose magazine which promotes the work of three Leigh East councillors Brian Jarvis, Keith Cunliffe and Fred Walker.
Cllr Jarvis apologised to residents offended after it was realised the first letters highlighted in the opening four paragraphs spelt out an offending word.
He said: "We didn't notice it ourselves. It is a bit of an embarrassment, but it has not been done to insult anyone. These things happen. You see this sort of mistake in newspapers and even on Countdown. We hope it will be taken in good spirit."
