HOW kind of Mr B Andrews (Bolton Evening News, July 9), for starting another scare with his tirade against Bolton Council's Highways Department for allowing the growth locally of the poisonous ragwort plant, which has been dubbed "the yellow peril".
He is probably unaware that ragwort is the food plant of the voracious black and yellow caterpillar of the glistening red and black cinnabar moth, one of the most attractive British moths which flies by day or night in early summer.
Perhaps next time he sees some ragwort, he will look for the cinnabar caterpillars, and it may remind him that something poisonous can produce something beautiful.
