AS an avid (some would say sad) Bolton Wanderers fan and owner of a sizeable collection of the club's goals compilation videos from seasons past, this latest release comes as a real treat writes Andy Scoble

Quite simply it is the best and most complete compilation package the club has ever produced, and will serve to whet fans' appetites for what will hopefully be another fine season in the top flight.

The slick production, complete with stylish graphics and Premiership-quality commentary and camera work, is far removed from those early '90s videos lovingly compiled by supporter Dave "Ding Dong Do" Higson, but this is the first time since those Roadrunner days that I have really enjoyed watching a Wanderers compilation.

That is partly down to its being presented by Bolton comedian and Wanderers fan Dave Spikey, whose obvious enthusiasm makes even the 4-0 defeat at Portsmouth bearable.

The club has come a long way since the time when a 2-0 win at Bournemouth was cause for real celebration, but back in those early Bruce Rioch days the accompanying videos seemed to be more personal.

Sadly, as the Wanderers improved, so the quality of the video releases seemed to get proportionally worse. To celebrate Wanderers survival in the top flight a couple of years ago we merely got "Sam's Six of the Best" compilation -- goodness knows what happened to the other 32 games -- while there was no collection of goals from the 2002-2003 season released at all!

Now, at last, we have a DVD and video to put the record straight. Every single goal (yes, even those against) from the last season is preserved here for eternity.

Marvel again at Jay-Jay's free kick against Aston Villa. Ask yourself yet again whether or not Henrik Pedersen means it when his lob goes in against Newcastle. Turn your head away in anguish as Les Ferdinand heads home a last second equaliser for Leicester City -- and then consol yourself with the knowledge he'll be playing for us next season!

There are more than two hours of highlights here, while the DVD contains amusing extras and statistics. Supporters will love it (after all, it was the club's best season for 44 years) and hopefully it will set the standard for future releases.
