AGAIN it would appear that there are individuals who feel that they need to be disrespectful to Astley Village.
If there are problems within the community they can be addressed by contacting the appropriate bodies such as the parish council, the environmental health officer, Chorley Council or the police.
But let's put things into perspective. In or around any pond or natural area of beauty there will be found wildlife such as rabbits, voles, shrews, mice and, of course, the occasional bigger rodent. These are not unique to Astley Village.
Remember it is people that feed the ducks and fish and they do so because they care for the creatures, not to upset anonymous letter writers.
Now then on to people leaving furnishings in their gardens. If you don't feel that it is appropriate to confront them and if it is causing you personal distress then contact the council and ask them to act on the situation.
The same goes for witnessing mindless acts of vandalism or other socially unacceptable behaviour. The authority to contact is the police force. As for children and manners, these are social graces passed on by parents and are then developed throughout life, some get it right, some don't, but whichever way, don't blame the child, blame the parents or the system, and if you don't like the system, use your vote to change it.
Finally, if people must keep writing adverse comments about our village, please back up the letter by identifying yourself and remember any problems that you may see on the village are mirrored throughout villages, towns and cities around the UK.
Steve Clifford, Wymundsley, Astley Village
