RE the decision to go elsewhere and leave Bolton without an ice rink (do you all remember the Navada, roller skating)?
The Navada was very well used but now it's gone.
If there is anyone out there with the brass to build one, they would certainly see it pay. I attend Blackburn ice rink regularly and it's always very busy, especially in the school holidays. It is good exercise and, if you've roller skated, then ice skating is easy to grasp.
So, if there is a money man, or men, who are willing to give Bolton something decent, then I'm sure all of us would be grateful. So it's gone, who cares -- ours will be better I'm sure.
