AN accident blackspot is set to be made safer after residents made a plea to Bolton Council chiefs.
Road bosses agreed to look at residents' worries about The Hoskers, Westhoughton, after a spate of accidents where vehicles have left the road and hit cars and properties.
Residents fear children attending a nearby primary school are at risk. In the latest incident, a car careered across the narrow road and smashed through gardens before stopping inches short of a house.
Highways managers will now look at how to slow down traffic at the junction with Wearish Lane.
Motorists use the The Hoskers as a rat-run to get across Daisy Hill without passing through the congested village centre.
Cllr David Wilkinson, the council's executive member for environment, said: "We won't be putting speed limits and humps all over the place, but if residents have asked us to look at roads and we have identified a danger we will take action to slow motorists down.
"The stretch of road has seen a number of accidents and we're thankful that no one has been hurt so far."
Action to slow cars on the road comes just days after the council said it wanted to slash speeds on another Westhoughton rat-run.
Plans to reduce the speed limit in Tempest Road, between Westhoughton and Lostock, have been put to a public consultation.
