THE rise of Bolton Wanderers in the last three seasons is largely down to two people -- Sam Allardyce and Youri Djorkaeff.
That is why we must keep Youri for one more season, his last season.
It was he, and he alone, who influenced the arrival of the likes of Jay-Jay, Campo, Bobic (on loan), Laville and any future signings.
Whatever Youri is asking, he must be paid.
This is the same World Cup winner who turned down millions of pounds for a season in Qatar.
I feel BWFC are trying to get Youri on the cheap, using his age and the fact he could easily get injured as an excuse.
Anyone can get injured at any time, but when Youri was injured last season we had a bad spell.
When he came back, we went on a winning run, just missing out on Europe. Coincidence? I do not think so.
Phil Gartside seems to have found his goal, he has found himself on that board of elite Premiership chairmen -- nice suits, nice venues, nice dinners.
He has reached his goal. The fans have not. That is why we need Youri.
