THE Bolton Hospice Volunteer Team will tonight receive recognition for the role it plays in the community at a reception hosted by the Queen.
The group is one of only 110 organisations to win the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service this year and will be honoured at St James's Palace in London.
The Bolton Hospice Volunteer Team works to achieve quality of life for patients and their families through administrative help, support, transport and fundraising.
Fiona Mactaggart, Minister for the Voluntary and Community Sector, said: "This annual award gives well-deserved recognition to some of the unsung heroes of our communities."
Nominations for the 2005 Queen's Award for Voluntary Service are now open, and if you know a volunteering group that are really making a difference to your community, nomination forms are available from www.queensawardvoluntary.gov.uk or by calling 0845 000 2002.
