A SUMMER holiday club will give children a taste of 20 different cultures in five weeks.
Eagley Out Of School Club will run from July 19 to August 20.
The children will begin each day at the club, held at Eagley Infants School in Bromley Cross, by having to find where in the world a cartoon character called Maurice is by finding hidden clues which reveal his virtual destination.
Activities will include a day of Gaelic Gaiety, bush-tucker trials - which will see youngsters sampling food such as squid - and an on-foot safari to the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, where they will be able to feed kangaroos and watch the monkeys. There will even be a Caribbean Extravaganza, courtesy of special guests from the Bolton West Indian Centre. Youngsters will also be able to sample the Far East through a traditional Oriental banquet. Trips will include horse riding, a beach party at Formby and a trip to Pleasureland in Southport. Zoolab UK will be bringing in their interactive roadshow, so children can "make friends" with snakes and scorpions.
Caron Turner, club manager, said: "We are planning to take the children on a total of 11 trips. We have held themed weeks before, but this is the first time we will have had a different theme every day."
The club has 40 places and caters to primary age children. It is mainly attended by Eagley pupils, although they sometimes accept children from other schools.
