PUBLISHER D2 Digital-By-Design has been praised for creating what is thought to be the country's first guide for pregnant teenagers.
D2, and author Julian Jordon, worked with Sefton Sure Start to create the guide - I'm Going to Have a Baby - to help young families. It offers advice and information on issues from health and housing to childcare, education, and money.
At its launch last week, Lady Winifred Tumin, chairman of the Government's Teenage Pregnancy Advisory Unit, praised the guide for its "clear, simple language," and for the way it helped young mums understand the often complicated benefits system.
The guide is part of the Government's Sure Start strategy to help vulnerable young families.
D2, in Manchester Road, Bolton, was established 12 years ago by ex-teacher Graham Mallinson to produce accurate, easy-to-understand learning materials to help tackle issues such as drugs and sex education. It now employs 14 staff.
