ANDY Morgan (July 14) takes Roger Hayes to task and says he is "daft" for suggesting power sharing after the June election, as the Conservative supporters do not want that. Well, they only took a third of the vote, so what about the wishes of the other two-thirds of electors, and their wishes, as councillors represent all the voters after an election and are expected to do their best for the town?
There was so little between the parties (one seat) that surely one could interpret that as the whole electorate wanting the three parties to sink their differences, and to co-operate and run the council jointly? On that basis, the Lib-Dems offered the other two parties a share in the executive positions, contrary to Andy's statement that it was because of their lack of experience. So the Lib-Dems, being a responsible party, took over the running of the council, and they have enough experienced councillors to be able to cope with any situation and will soon acquire the necessary skill to do the job competently.
Yes, there may be mistakes, but what party gets everything right anyway?
Then Andy in his wishful thinking says the Conservatives will take control when elected. But may I suggest that, after Labour's long stint of government, his party has no more experience of running the council than the Lib-Dems!
Everyone has to start somewhere.
And, finally, Andy says the Conservatives never change policies. But after listening to all arguments surely you should be able to make changes sometimes?
