STAFF and pupils at a Horwich primary school proved that they are one step ahead of the rest when they achieved an Activemark Gold sports award.
The award, from Sport England, is in recognition of the Church Street school's outstanding and consistent efforts to keep the 402 pupils active and fit.
Staff have introduced a series of new sports activities for pupils during and outside of school time. PE coordinator Lesley Burgess said: "We are all thrilled to receive the award, as it reflects the hard work put in by the staff and pupils to make sure we are up to scratch."
A total of 375 primary schools across the country received an award this year, with 208 receiving Activemark, which is valid for three years.
