CHURCH congregations in Bolton have raised £1,400 for the Sudan Emergency Appeal - in just three weeks.
The cash has been raised in response to an appeal by the charity, CAFOD, to help people in Darfur.
The parish of St Edmund's has alone raised £1,000 for the spiralling humanitarian crisis in the region.
Nationwide, CAFOD supporters have raised more than £1m to date.
Regional Organiser Peter Grimshaw said: "The response to the CAFOD appeal so far has been overwhelming and we are extremely grateful for this rapid fund raising effort."
