DETECTIVES have launched a murder investigation after a man was found battered to death at his home.
Terence Evans, aged 45, was discovered with head injuries at his bungalow on Moorhey Road, Little Hulton, after reports of a disturbance.
A 34-year-old man, who is also believed to have lived at the bungalow, was arrested a short time later and was still being quizzed by murder squad detectives this lunchtime.
Officers were called to the house at 10am yesterday. The house and parts of Moorhey Road were sealed off for most of the day as scenes of crime and forensic officers searched the house and garden.
They also carried out a fingertip search of the gardens of neighbouring properties.
Det Chief Insp Sam Howarth, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are treating the death as a murder.
"We are waiting for scenes of crime officers to finish their investigation before we can enter the house.
"A 34-year-old man, who we believe to be a friend of the victim, has been arrested and is being questioned."
Jessica Faulkner, who lives next door to Mr Evans, said: "A man lived there on his own for a while before his wife came to stay briefly. She left and a man moved in about three weeks ago.
"They seemed to get on very well."
