A SECURITY guard from Bolton who indecently assaulted a 14-year-old girl in school toilets has been ordered to carry out 120 hours community punishment.

Ismail Mohamud was also placed on probation for 12 months and ordered to be put on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.

Liverpool Crown Court was told that Mohamud, who still denies the offence, has never been in trouble before and as a devout Muslim was deeply ashamed of the conviction.

Mohamud, aged 34, of Brandwood Street, Daubhill, was found guilty of indecently assaulting the girl after a trial.

The jury heard that on October 30 last year the girl was with friends watching a rugby match at a school in Wigan.

She went to the toilets but as she came out she encountered Mohamud, who was working at the school as a security guard.

He touched her body over her clothing and she pushed him away and ran back to her friends and told them what had happened. Mohamud was arrested a few days later but denied the offence.

Jeffrey Samuels, defending, said Mohamud had fled his homeland of Somalia because of the civil war and moved to the Netherlands. He then moved to Britain and brought his family over. Mr Justice Elias told Mohamud he was satisfied he had acted out of character.
