Leigh RMI 1 Wigan 1: LEIGH RMI striker Craig Mitchell caught the eye with an impressive performance and a goal in the pre-season friendly with Wigan Athletic at Hilton Park Wednesday night.
The new boy put the Railwaymen ahead in the fourth minute and it took the Latics, who included several first-teamers in their side, until three minutes from time to equalise through Neil Roberts.
The performance from his rebuilt side left manager Phil Starbuck delighted.
"It was a great game and a great test for us," he said.
"The first-half we competed well, passed the ball well and we looked compact. The bottom line is fitness and we looked sharp and the hard work in training is paying off. This is our really first competitive game and the lads came through with flying colours. We scored a great goal and should have had another."
