WE thought we would drop you a quick line to thank your readers for making this year's Sport Relief such a success.
We managed to raise bucket loads of cash, which will go to help fight poverty for the poor and disadvantaged children in the UK and around the world.
More than 81,000 people helped us set a new world record by running the Fitness First Sport Relief Miles right across the UK on the day. And that was not the only record we smashed.
During the evening of Sport Relief 2004, volunteers in call centres across the UK handled more than 310,000 calls, which helped achieve a record £11,078,359 on the night to tackle poverty worldwide. This means that, in the time it took Roger Bannister to run his record-breaking four-minute mile 50 years ago, BT handled over 4,100 donation calls.
But we still need your readers' help.
We want everyone who did the mile to gather up their sponsorship money and get it in to Sport Relief either by calling the BT-enabled donation line number, 08457 910 910 (calls charged at local rate), or by sending a cheque to "Sport Relief" 04, Ernst & Young, PO Box 678, London, EC4A 1NT.
Thanks again for all your support.
Phil Tufnell and Nick Hancock
