STEVE Parry will put the disappointment of failing to qualify for the Open behind him when he takes part in the £100,000 JJB North West Challenge tour event, at the Marriott Worsley Park, which starts today.

The course has been toughened up for the event, the area's biggest professional tournament for 23 years.

Four new tees have been built behind the original ones at the fourth, sixth, 10th and 13th, extending the course overall by 100 yards.

And the 18th has been reduced by 21 yards to turn it from an easy par five into a difficult four.

More than 6,000 people are expected on each of the four days, with admission free.
