JAMES Anderson returned to boost the Lancashire attack as they frustrated Gloucestershire in their Championship clash at Cheltenham.
Peter Martin dropped out to make way for Anderson, who made his way down the M4 to join his county colleagues after being left out of the England Test side.
Martin had already claimed the wicket of Mike Hussey, as well as hitting 20 in Lancashire's tally of 375.
Dinesh Mongia failed to add to his overnight 111, with James Franklin continuing his fine bowling from the first day to finish with 7-60 on his Championship debut.
Anderson made a quick impact when he arrived midway through the afternoon session, dismissing opener Phil Weston for 44. His strike followed an aggressive show from Dominic Cork, who made the most of gloomy conditions, taking the wickets of Chris Taylor and Alex Gidman.
But Lancashire were held up by a stand of 87 for the sixth wicket between Steven Adshead and Franklin.
