BOLTON has a new top dog in the war on litter.
The handsome fellow on the right has been chosen as Bolton Council's new mascot in the battle to keep the streets clean. But he does not have a name yet -- and the council is appealing to youngsters for help in giving him one.
He is replacing the previous mascot, Watchdog Willie, seen on the left greeting his successor, who has said farewell to Bolton after passing on his tidy message to children for five years.
As part of Bolton Council's Bin It For Bolton campaign, which was launched in conjunction with the Bolton Evening News earlier this year, council officials want youngsters to give the new mascot a name which reflects his task.
The winner will be given a Bin It For Bolton T-shirt signed by Bolton Wanderers players.
Sally Wolstencroft, Bolton Council environmental education and enforcement manager, said: "We would love kids to come up with a name which has something to do with the message he is trying to send out about litter and the environment."
Entries should be sent to Bin It For Bolton Mascot, Newsdesk, Bolton Evening News, Newspaper House, Churchgate, Bolton, BL1 1DE or by e-mail to bennewsdesk @boltoneveningnews.co.uk by Monday, August 9. Do not forget to include your name, address, age and day contact number.
